Today I went looking through some old E-mails and found a letter that I sent to every US Senator, over 200 House Members, all 50 Governors, and The President of the United States.
I sent this October 27, 2009
I though my thoughts 3 years ago at age 16 were very good, seeing as how this was one of the very things that got me into politics in the first place.
Dear ________
I’m Sean Verhoeff. I’m 16 years old and I live in the small town of Lamar, Colorado. Health care is important to me, because I'm old enough to know what's going on in the medical industry and study for myself the problems with the current system.
The best thing to do to reform health care is keep the federal government OUT of it. Let it be private insurance that redesigns health care reform, not The United States Government. If our government does not kill this health care bill, our health care system as we know it well fail, taxes will hit the roof and government will get bigger. The United States Government taking over health care will make all private health care fail. Government subsidized health care will be the only health care left. Traditionally, when government subsidizes an entity, the entity grows more and more dependent on government and less and less capable of doing the job.
Consider for a moment the United States Postal Service. Not only does it cost more to mail a package than it does through other sources, but mailing packages has become a national joke. They don't arrive on time, they arrive tattered by machines, and the industry in general is a non-working program. If Government takes over health care, the same will happen in that industry. Doctors will be paid less and be required to do more. All patients will be treated equal and specific cases will be brushed aside ad unimportant, just as they are in other socialized medicine states.
Our health care system will be like the health care system in Communist Russia before the fall of the iron curtain. Certainly everyone is covered, but limitations of service would be required to stop the out-pooring of cash into the system. Long lines, slow responses, and ultimately, unnecessary deaths would occure. Socialized health care does not work. I've spoken with people who have lived in socialized nations. All report long lines, ineffective medical treatment and inexcusable deaths of healthy citizens who had minor health issues due to lack of care. The United States has the best health care system in the world. Passing this new health care bill would destroy a working program. Yes, it may need reform, but not by the federal government. Keep government out of our health care and allow the medical institutions to be independent and operate freely with reasonable accountability so our people can continue to have quality care.
I want to continue to live in the United States as a free nation with freedom and opportunity everywhere when I get older. I am committed to hard work and dedication to maintain the freedom to choose health care and other options.
Sincerely,
Sean Verhoeff

Endorsing Justin Everett for State House of Representatives District 22.
Yesterday I endorsed Justin Everett for the State House of Representatives District 22. I believe that he will do a great job in the State House, he is a real conservative with business experience. I can't think of anything better then having a conservative businessman representing the State of Colorado.
